Would you like to meet our team? ONH are always delighted to meet clerks, councillors and neighbourhood plan groups, answer your questions and deliver training specific to your area.
This Autumn we'll be popping up at Local Council events in Cheshire, Leicestershire, Somerset and Northamptonshire in September and October, as well as hosting online events accessible to any clerk, councillor or neighbourhood plan group from anywhere in England.

Thurs 18th Sept | 9.30am - 4.30pm | Middlewich, Cheshire
Meet Neil Homer in person at the exhibitors area at the Cheshire SLCC Annual Training Day. In the main room, Neil will also lead a seminar on Changes to the Planning System from 1.45pm to 2.30pm covering the latest updates on national policy, the introduction of 'grey' belt, and the ways in which councils can respond to the planning impacts they are seeing locally.

This free online training will be delivered by planning experts Leani Haim and Leah Coney and is suitable for any clerk, councillor or neighbourhood plan group member to attend. 2025 has been a bumper year for national planning legislation, with changes proposed and made around housing requirements, the green belt, neighbourhood planning, strategic infrastructure and appeals. Leani and Leah will talk you through these changes and how your council can best prepare for the future. Book your place now!

Designed specifically for Northamptonshire Parishes: Ttese two training sessions can be taken individually or as a pair. Led by our experienced Neighbourhood Planning team we'll guide you through the Neighbourhood Plan process, the opportunities and common pitfalls, as well as answering any questions you may have.
What is Neighbourhood Planning?
This training event is for Clerks and Councillors considering embarking on a neighbourhood plan for the first time. ONH’s RTPI planners will introduce you to the key concepts of neighbourhood planning, including:
How to decide if a neighbourhood plan is the right option for your parish
What kind of neighbourhood plan policies can be included
The impact of national planning policy changes on neighbourhood planning
Project management of a neighbourhood plan, from start to finish
Gathering local views and the legal requirements for consultation on your neighbourhood plan
How to Develop a Neighbourhood Plan
This training event is for Clerks and Councillors with previous experience in neighbourhood planning, or who have also attended ‘What is Neighbourhood Planning?’ on October 21st. ONH’s RTPI planners will guide you through the knottiest stages of developing a neighbourhood plan, including:
Stakeholder mapping: who should you engage with and how can you engage with them?
How to link community ideas to effective policies
A detailed look at policy areas: site allocations, future development, heritage, environment and social infrastructure
Being a trail blazer how to approach policy ideas that other neighbourhood planning groups haven’t tried before
Approaches to the final step: local referendum
