We supported the Parish Council in completing its neighbourhood plan in 2016. The flagship policy in the plan established the development brief for a 1,300 home proposal to double the size of the village in the adopted Local Plan. The plan vision was ‘One Village’, which shaped how the plan proposed to ensure the new housing and other uses would function alongside and benefit the existing village.
Three years later the planning authority invited the Council to participate in a project to enable the authority to compulsory purchase the land given its concerns that the land interests could not deliver the scheme. The Council appointed us to return to help it oversee the masterplanning work carried out by the authority’s developer partner to support an outline planning application for the whole scheme. This included extensive local community engagement. The application was submitted in 2020 with the Council’s support and will be determined shortly.
