Southbourne The Green Ring
A key feature of the Southbourne neighbourhood plan made in 2015 was the policy proposal to create a new ‘Green Ring’ around the village to stitch into its edge a series of housing site allocations. The concept also anticipated that a future review of the plan would need to consider further growth around it edge.
We supported the Parish Council in preparing the plan, including liaising with the key land interests in masterplanning the site allocations. After the plan was made we were retained by the Parish Council to design and bring forward specific sections of the Ring through successfully negotiating the subsequent planning applications.
In 2019 we were re-appointed to help the Parish Council review the made plan, which needs to plan for the anticipated new growth being proposed by the emerging Local Plan. The new neighbourhood plan has extended the concept through the new main mixed use allocation proposal and is currently at examination.
