Great Horwood Site F

As part of the Great Horwood Neighbourhood Plan, prepared by Oneill Homer and adopted by Aylesbury Vale District Council, a scheme of 15 new homes was proposed to help meet local housing needs and provide a new pocket park for the community. Oneill Homer worked with the landowner to obtain planning approval and deliver the project.

The 0.5 hectare site which is located on the approach to the village needed to create a gateway and sense of arrival into the village as well as responding to the rural setting of the settlement edge.

A landscape led approach to the design, engineering and placemaking elements of the scheme was essential. Setting and views were addressed through building form, roofscape and materials, creating a layout with the flexibility to provide different dwelling types within an overall structure that resonates with the rural setting. The dwellings are clustered around a courtyard to minimise the visual impacts of parking and create a shared focus within the development.
