Slaugham CRTBO

The Order which was one of the First Community Right to Build Orders in the country was for a residential development in the village of Slaugham in Sussex of
76 homes including 50% affordable and self-build plots. The scheme included a
new public open space and a community shop all to be delivered through a new Community Land Trust. A Community Land Trust was proposed for the delivery and management of the scheme had three advantages:

-  It enabled an asset lock which will secure the schemes in perpetuity for the           benefit of the community
-  It provided for allocations being made to meet local needs
-  It offered a community asset management structure with the flexibility to
   meet changing demands and opportunities

The Community Land Trust would act as a client for the detailed development of the schemes and would run the community shop in partnership with local businesses including the Post Office.
