This was the second of three Community Right to Build Orders for the parish of
Ferring in Sussex designed to realise the land value of assets controlled by the parish in order to generate funds to develop and maintain a new community hub.
The scheme for ‘downsizer housing’ will help rebalance the existing housing stock by helping meet the high local demand for ‘downsizer housing’ and by freeing up more spacious property for local families.
It will provide 10 open market downsizer apartments houses on a 0.12 hectare site in the village centre where there will be less reliance on car journeys and it will be easier to maintain social contact.
The design responds to the heritage context of local Listed buildings contributing to the character of the streetscape of the village as a whole. A landscape courtyard provides a shared entrance space and parking with the ground and first floors designed to meet different living and mobility needs.
